One of the most important tasks facing educational process in field design is formation project thinking among students. For over 100 years, methodology developed famous schools Bauhaus and VKhUTEMAS has been basis for educating thinking, graphic culture, use formal composition principles. This paper describes initial stage an interuniversity aimed at studying state teaching propaedeutics design. The purpose to search relevant forms methodological heritage through analysis programs taught various universities, colleges, children's studios. study based on materials presented All-Russian Scientific Practical Conference "Traditional Innovative Methods Teaching Propaedeutics Design". identified features results propaedeutics, which are techniques VKHUTEMAS. Thus, confirms relevance necessity as a format comprehensive immersion compositional patterns that precedes development new realities. At same time, each institutions its own specific course propaedeutics.
